India vs Australia, 1st Test Day 2 Highlights: Rohit, Jadeja, And Axar Put India On Top. Day Two of the First Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy that is being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium, Nagpur also belonged to India. India finished the day with a score of 321/7 on the board and a lead of 144 runs. The morning session went in Australia’s favor but after lunch, India dominated both sessions.
Fans would be hoping India registers a big score on the third which will help them to gain a big lead. Aussie bowlers on the other hand will try to restrict Indian batters by taking the three wickets at the earliest and keeping the Indian score below the 350 or 400 mark. Let’s summarize the entire day’s play.
Rohit Sharma registered his 9th Test Century
The second day of the first Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2023) at Nagpur belonged to India skipper Rohit Sharma. The right-hander batsmen lead with utter calmness and patience.
At one stage India was 118-1 when Ravichandran Ashwin got out as suddenly India was 168/5. The 35-year-old didn’t take too many risks. His batting revolved around his classy timing and nudges as usual.
Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel helping India gain an impressive lead
Jadeja was involved in a 61-run partnership alongside skipper Rohit Sharma when India looked in a dicey situation. After Rohit Sharma and debutant Srikar Bharat got out Jadeja was again involved in a useful partnership with Axar Patel.
The two left-handers are still unbeaten with Jadeja on 66 and Axar Patel on 52. The duo has already compiled a partnership of 81. It needs to be seen how the two batsman bat tomorrow morning as there could be some due early on in the wicket.

Todd Murphy makes an impression of his Test debut claiming 5/82
The 23-year-old off-spinner registered figures of 5/82 on his Test debut getting two important wickets in the form of Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. Murphy bowled a tight line and managed to get some spin with his clever off breaks. Australia will be hoping the off-spinner continues with his fine form on the third day, thus helping Australia get India all out below 375.
Forgettable Test debut for Suryakumar Yadav
Indian fans would have hoped for Suryakumar Yadav to score big or at least a half-century on his Test debut but the Mumbai batsman managed to score just 8. He was bowled by a wonderful off-spin delivery from Nathan Lyon that turned a bit after landing foxing Suryakumar Yadav to play a big shot on the off side.
The third day will be crucial for both teams as Indian batsmen will be hoping to put in a big score maybe above 400 while Australia will be looking, especially on their spinners to restrict India below 375. It needs to be seen who gains the advantage.
