IPL 2022 Auction: Matthew Wade To David Warner, Full List Of Sold Australian Players At Mega Auction

Australian players have been very interested in the IPL since its inception and their fan base is also huge here. Apart from the Indian captains winning the IPL title, only three overseas players (Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist & David Warner) all from Australia have won the trophy for their respective teams.

But in this auction, IPL teams did not show the same interest towards Australian players as they used to show earlier. This is the reason why teams did not bid on legendary Australian players like Steve Smith, Adam Zampa, Marnus Labuschange, Aaron Finch

Out of the total 600 players involved in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, 47 players were from Australia. Three of these (Trent Boult, Warner, and Pat Cummins) were among the marquee set players who were the first bid in the auction. Two of the three players in the marquee set got half the price of the last auction.

Warner was given 12.5 crores by Hyderabad in 2021, while this time Delhi bought him for only 6.25 crores. Similarly, Pat Cummins was bought by Kolkata in the last season for 15.5 but this time Kolkata had to spend only 7.25 on him.
