IPL 2024: Big Blow For CSK As Matheesha Pathirana To Miss Few Matches Of 17th Season. CSK will face RCB in the IPL 2024 opener at their home ground Chepauk on March 22. But before this clash, Chennai Super Kings faced a big blow as their death over specialist bowler Matheesha Patirana will miss a few matches due to a hamstring injury. Espncricinfo reported about Pathirana’s injury.
The 21-year-old Sri Lanka was injured during the second T20I against Bangladesh in Sylhet on 6 March. After that, Matheesha Pathirana was unable to finish the spell.
Matheesha Pathirana’s lethal bowling last season was one of the major reasons behind CSK’s 5th title win. However, he is set to miss a few matches of the 17th season for the side early on due to a hamstring injury which is a big blow. Pathirana took 19 wickets in 12 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Chennai has a replacement in Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman who too had an injury scare during the side’s T20I series against Sri Lanka. While Rahman has joined the squad in Chennai there is a question if he would start or not.
