TATA IPL 2023 Auction Details
The TATA IPL 2023 Player Auction witnessed the sale of 80 players, with a collective spending of INR 1,67,00,00,000 by the ten franchises in Kochi. The auction was notably characterized by a strong demand for all-rounders. Also before going under the hammer, English all-rounder Sam Curran was already generating significant buzz, and he went on to set a record, becoming the highest-priced player in IPL auction history. The Punjab Kings secured his services with a top bid of INR 18.50 Crore.
In addition to Curran’s record-breaking deal, Cameron Green and Ben Stokes also secured lucrative contracts. Mumbai Indians acquired Green for INR 17.50 Crore, while Chennai Super Kings secured Stokes for 16.25 Crore. Moreover, Indian batting star Mayank Agarwal joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 8.25 Crore, accompanied by explosive English batter Harry Brook, who also had a successful auction.
Among the bowlers, pace sensation Shivam Mavi emerged as the most expensive, as the defending champions Gujarat Titans acquired his services for INR 6 Crore.
