IPL 2025: CSK Sign Dewald Brevis As Replacement For Injured Gurjapneet Singh. Chennai Super Kings have roped in Proteas Dewald Brevis as a replacement for injured pacer Gurjapneet Singh. The announcement was made after confirming Singh’s injury for the entire IPL 2025 season.

Brevis is often referred to as “Baby AB”, considering his style of play closely mimics that of AB de Villiers. He is bringing lots of experience to the T20 tournament with CSK. He has already played with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL and has experience with T20 format leagues worldwide, such as the Caribbean Premier League and Major League Cricket in the USA. Finally, Brevis is well known for having made the highest score in T20. With 162 runs off 57 balls against the Knights for the Titans in October 2022.

Singh is a left-arm pacer from Tamil Nadu. He was acquired for ₹2.2 crore by Chennai Super Kings during the IPL 2025 auction. Standing at 6’3″, he made headlines in the domestic circuit by taking six wickets for 12 runs in his debut Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra. His injury is a blow to CSK’s bowling attack. But in such circumstances, it will deepen the batting at CSK because of what a motivational signing by the franchise.
