IPL 2025: Dasun Shanaka Likely to Replace Injured Glenn Phillips in Gujarat Titans Squad. Gujarat Titans have roped in Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as a replacement for Glenn Phillips, who suffered a groin injury and was ruled out of IPL 2025. The Kiwi all-rounder was picked for ₹2 crore by GT in the IPL 2025 auction. A player already earmarked as a great fielder and can be relied upon to add some serious firepower to the middle order as well as a part-time spin option. Phillips sustained a groin injury during a practice session just days before the Titans’ match against SRH on the 6th of April. Medical reports later concluded that it is a seasonal injury.

Glenn has not played any matches this season. His absence further weakens the depth of the Titans’ squad in particular, as that of a batting all-rounder.

Dasun Shanaka: A Tactical Addition

Shanaka, a former Sri Lankan white-ball captain, is an aggressive batter and a medium-pace bowler. He was there in IPL 2023 with the same franchise after replacing Kane Williamson. He left a good impression in his limited appearances.

With his international experience in all formats and an impressive record for delivering in pressure situations, he brings with him considerable experience and flexibility. His inclusion is viewed by Gujarat as a tactical move to improve the all-around options and maintain squad balance.
