IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Appointed Kevin Pietersen as Team Mentor: As a major development ahead of the IPL season in 2025, the Delhi Capitals have hired Kevin Pietersen, former captain of the England team, as a mentor for the players. Kevin was with the franchise as a player during the IPL seasons in 2009 and 2014; this will be his first prominent coaching gig in the IPL.

As a player, Kevin was part of the Delhi franchise in the 2012 and 2014 IPL seasons, where he captained the team in 2014, but they finished bottom of the table in that season.

Coaching Team: Pietersen joins this coaching staff along with the head coach, Hemang Badani; assistant coach, Matthew Mott; bowling coach, Munaf Patel; and Director of Cricket, Venugopal Rao.
Player Squad: The Delhi Capitals retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abishek Porel ahead of the season. They are also major buyers, having acquired KL Rahul, Harry Brook, Faf du Plessis, and Mitchell Starc, with an eye toward bulk-ing up their team and upping their chances for a successful 2024 IPL season.
Post-playing Career of Pietersen
Pietersen had hung up his boots in 2018 and has thus far kept busy as a commentator and analyst in cricket. He has also expressed a strong desire to get into coaching and has positioned himself in 2022 to assist the England cricket team to bring about a positive attitude and others’ approaches toward the players. He has always been looking to make use of his experiences post-retirement.
