Why Did BCCI Ban Harry Brook?
Harry Brook is now banned from the IPL 2025. Thus, he has missed the tournament for two years running. Citing personal reasons for opting out last year, Brook, too, has stated that he would prefer playing for England this year. The BCCI has tightened rules regarding the participation of players. That was a very serious breach of commitment that brought with it the ban.

So they said that the BCCI had already announced the franchises. All players withdrawing during the season without valid reasons would face suspension. BCCI formally issued the two-year suspension to Brook and the England and Wales Cricket Board, also the ECB, was informed about it.
Brook’s Decision to Prioritise England
The 26-year-old middle-order batter was supposed to be Delhi’s leading man in next year’s season; however, Brook instead decided to skip the tournament to prepare for England’s immediate commitments, which include:
- A one-off Test against Zimbabwe in May.
- A limited-overs series against the West Indies later in the year.
- Possible leadership of the white-ball setup, as Jos Buttler is stepping down as England’s ODI captain after a disappointing Champions Trophy 2025.
While cricketing experts have mixed feelings regarding Brook’s decision, those in favor claim he has made the right decision by sacrificing IPL to serve his nation. Others, however, say he could have managed both.
Impact on Delhi Capitals and Future in IPL 2025 for Brook
Brook’s withdrawal is a huge loss for Delhi Capitals, who were banking on him to play a major role in their campaign after spending a princely sum on the England batter. They now have to scramble to find a replacement at short notice.
