Jay Shah to Become New ICC Chairman from December 1st, 2024: Jay Shah to overtake as the chairman of the ICC from 1st, December 2024. He is currently serving as the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and serves at the highest level in the Asian Cricket Council currently.

Meanwhile, incumbent ICC chairman Greg Barclay from New Zealand who assumed office in 2020—will finish his tenure in November 2024. Even though he has shown interest in staying on if only ICC board members support him, a number of sources have suggested that Jay Shah has little competition and therefore appears likely to take over from Barclay.

People look at Shah’s expected chairmanship as the turning point for international cricket administration. Sometimes, the ICC’s discussions touch on extending the current chairperson’s two-year duration to three years, which may affect Shah if he is elected.

In addition, Shah’s leadership may bring significant changes to ICC activities, where rumour has it that this could result in moving the ICC main office from Dubai to Mumbai, thus consolidating India’s role in the global cricket arena more. The cricket world is already readying itself for how much of an impact a Shah administration will have before even the official decision is reached in the upcoming ICC elections.
