Kumar Sangakkara In Talks With KKR To Become Their Mentor For IPL 2025 : After Gautam Gambhir’s exit from KKR, who led them to their third title in 2024, according to reports, the Kolkata Knight Riders are on the verge of appointing Kumar Sangakkara as their mentor ahead of the IPL 2025. Gambhir returned this year but has since taken up the role of head coach for India following the win at the T20 World Cup 2024, where he ruled out Rahul Dravid

Kolkata Knight Riders will benefit significantly from Sangakkara’s extensive experience in administration since he was an international captain and also served as the Director of Cricket at Rajasthan Royals from 2021 going forward. Changes in overall performances were very substantial during that period, leading to a second-place finish in IPL (Indian Premier League) 2022 for his former team. Nevertheless, there are rumours that Sangakkara is quitting the Rajasthan Royals while KKR is making all efforts possible to have him take over Gambhir’s job.

After their successful campaign in the 2024 season, KKR also makes this change in leadership. Presently, the KKR coaching structure has Chandrakant Pandit as the head coach and Bharat Arun as the bowling coach. However, with Gambhir moving to the India national team as part of the support staff, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate, who were previously batting and fielding coaches for KKR, have joined him there too.
