The upcoming January transfer window is getting interesting as Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are preparing to rope in Andrija Maksimovic. The 17-year-old has been making waves in the football world, especially for Red Star Belgrade.
Maksimovic, dubbed the Serbian Messi, has caught the eye of Premier League and La Liga clubs alike. A slew of clubs, including Manchester City and Juventus, are keen to sign the youngster. He has played in the 2023 UEFA European U17 Championship.
The Serbian’s playing style has been likened to Lionel Messi and Colombian footballer James Rodriguez. His ball control passes, and techniques are very strong. Maksimovic is regarded as a creative player who roams freely on the pitch and finds spaces to bring the play.

Andrija Maksimovic Worth £12.5mn
The teenager’s contract, worth £12.5 million, with Red Star is until 2027. Maksimovic made 10 appearances for the Belgrade club, including one in the Champions League. He has also made his international debut with Serbia last weekend.
Dragan Stojkovic, Serbia’s head coach, was very much impressed with the teen footballer at the European Championships in Cyprus. He believes Maksimovic has great potential. Vladan Milojevic, Crvena Zvezda’s coach, said Maksimovic is incredibly talented. He commended the youngster’s confidence, creativity, and control of the ball.
Word is that Juventus and Atletico Madrid have been closing following Maksimovic. This means that his transfer fee could be anything between €6-7 million.
