Mohammed Shami In Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Participation Awaits NCA Clearance: The Indian team management is keeping an eye on the present fitness and form of Mohammed Shami and awaiting a final nod from the NCA as regards his inclusion in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Shami has been kept away from the action because of a prolonged injury. He returned to domestic cricket via the SMAT and Ranji Trophy. However, the pacer will need final fitness clearance from the NCA Sports Science Department. Then he could be considered for selection for the Australia Test series.
Mohammed Shami Ready For Test Cricket
Dr. Nitin Patel’s NCA team is stationed in Rajkot to check ‘physical readiness’ for Shami for the rigours of Test cricket as opposed to actual performances that should prompt selection—a four-wicket haul on debut in SMAT, to list one. Of importance is whether he could survive the rigours of a labelled Test match session. There will be regular updates for selectors and team management in Australia.
The Bengal pacer will be playing two more domestic games, after which a decision is expected. Inclusion of Shami would mean that he can join forces with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Thus, posing a significant threat to a strong Australian batting line-up.

The measure shows that the team does not compromise its health concerns, keeping players out of international cricket until they get fully fit. If cleared, Shami could join the squad in the latter part of the series.
