Paris Olympics 2024: Full List Of Indian Athletics Squad. The world’s most anticipated sporting event Paris Olympics 2024 starts from 26 July featuring some of the best sportsmen and women in their respective categories. The Olympic Torch Relay has begun with 175 torchbearers taking turns through the Yvelines. The Olympics is set to be a starry affair with Lady Gaga likely performing at the opening ceremony.
This is the first Olympics in the post-COVID world. Tokyo Olympics 2020, held in 2021, had restrictions in place because of the coronavirus pandemic. Many athletes couldn’t participate because they had COVID-19, or travel restrictions. Athletes also had to wear masks and there was social distancing.
India is also gearing up for the Paris Olympics. 117 Indian athletes – 70 men and 47 women are set to compete in 16 sports. 29 Indian athletes will compete in athletics, 21 in archery, and 19 in hockey. Eyes are on Neeraj Chopra and PV Sindhu to win medals. There’s also pressure on the hockey team to win gold as it won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Games.
Sharath Kamal, 42, who has been the flagbearer of Indian table tennis for the last two decades, will be carrying the Indian flag at the opening ceremony. This will be his fifth Olympics.
