The Indian hockey team won its first Olympic medal (Gold) in 1928 in Amsterdam. They scored 29 goals without reply in 5 matches to win its first medal. Hockey wizard Dhyan Chand scored 14 goals, including a hat-trick in the final against the Netherlands. India has won 8 Gold medals in Hockey so far. After a long gap of 41 years Indian hockey team won Bronze in the Tokyo Olympics.
