PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi Appointed President of Asian Cricket Council. Mohsin Naqvi has been appointed as the new President of the Asian Cricket Council in place of Shammi Silva of Sri Lanka Cricket. The statement was confirmed in a virtual meeting of the ACC’s executive committee held today.
Naqvi has been serving as PCB Chairman since February 2024. He has committed his plans for the advancement of cricket across Asia. He has stated, “Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the game’s growth and global influence.”
Outgoing President Shammi Silva reminisced about his term, iterating such milestones achieved. The highest-ever value secured for the ACC Asia Cup commercial rights and the introduction of a new pathway events structure. He added, “As I step down, I have full confidence that under Mr Naqvi’s capable leadership. The ACC will continue its remarkable journey and thrive.”

The first big assignment for Naqvi as ACC President will involve overseeing the Asia Cup 2025. It will happen in September. Reports also claimed that the United Arab Emirates would most likely host the six-team tournament, which is expected to announce its venue soon.
Naqvi wears many hats; he is also currently Pakistan’s interior minister apart from being PCB and ACC officials. His versatile leadership is expected to put a fresh dynamic into the ACC with a focus on development programs and youth involvement, in addition to taking Asian cricket further up into the global vista.

Thirty member associations constitute the different arms of ACC, which was founded in 1983 and now focuses on promoting and developing cricket across the Asian continent. New doors to marketing opportunities and increased cooperation among nations will open with Naqvi leading the charge.
