Prasidh Krishna Replaces Injured Hardik Pandya in ICC ODI World Cup 2023 India Squad. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Event Technical Committee has approved Prasidh Krishna’s inclusion in the Indian squad as a replacement for the sidelined all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to an ongoing injury.
Hardik Pandya, a prominent Indian all-rounder, sustained an ankle injury during the match against Bangladesh on October 19 in Pune, a setback that significantly impacted his participation in the tournament. The injury forced him to exit the field during his first over, and despite receiving treatment and attempting to return with his leg heavily strapped, he was unable to continue bowling. Subsequently, the team had to rely on Virat Kohli to complete the remaining three balls of the over.
Initially, medical professionals believed that Hardik had experienced a minor ankle sprain, but upon closer examination, they diagnosed it as a ligament tear. While they categorized it as a Grade 1 injury, the initial recovery prognosis indicated a timeframe of 10-15 days. Unfortunately, the injury proved to be more severe than anticipated, preventing his return in time for the crucial matches.
Prasidh Krishna Inclusion And Role In Team India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team management had expressed optimism regarding Hardik’s recovery and his potential participation in the tournament’s knockout stage. However, his inability to regain fitness has led to the need for a replacement player.
Prasidh Krishna, a seamer, has been chosen to step in for Hardik Pandya and will join the Indian team for their upcoming match against South Africa at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Prasidh Krishna, who has represented India in 17 One Day Internationals (ODIs), will step into Pandya’s shoes for the remainder of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Event Technical Committee has granted approval for the inclusion of a replacement player in the squad, a decision that was necessary.
