PSL 9 Draft: Mega Trade Between Karachi Kings And Multan Sultans. The Karachi Kings, winners of the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), have engaged in a trade with Multan Sultans in anticipation of the PSL Draft 2024 scheduled for December 13.
As part of this trade, Shan Masood, Pakistan’s current Test captain, will be joining the Karachi Kings’ squad. In return, the Karachi Kings bid farewell to left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram, along with their first pick in the diamond round and first pick in the silver round.
Shan Masood became part of Multan Sultans in the 2018 season and marked his PSL debut in 2019 against Karachi Kings. Under his leadership, Sultans topped the league stage in the 2020 season, securing a playoff spot for the first time in franchise history. With a total of 1,318 runs in 42 matches, his presence significantly contributed to the Sultans’ title victory in 2021. In an earlier trade, the Kings swapped their previous edition’s captain, Imad Wasim, with Hasan Ali from Islamabad United.

In a brief press release, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Imad Wasim, the captain who led the PSL 5-winning team, will represent Islamabad United in the ninth edition of the tournament. However, Imad, recognized as the All-Rounder of PSL 8, has been acquired by Islamabad United in the Platinum category.
“Hasan Ali (Diamond category) moves to Karachi Kings. By this player trade, Karachi Kings have received Islamabad United’s first-round silver pick in exchange for their second-round silver pick,” it added.
The PSL Season Nine draft will take place at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
Tentatively, the schedule for PSL 9 is from February 8 to March 24, 2024. Initial reports indicated that the UAE and South Africa might host the initial matches due to elections in Pakistan. However, despite this, most franchises are advocating for holding the entire event in Pakistan.
