IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant Has Been Fined ₹12 Lakh For Slow Over-Rate Against Mumbai Indians. The new captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rishabh Pant, has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate against Mumbai Indians (MI) during IPL 2025. The match was held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 4th April. Lucknow Super Giants won by 12 runs.
According to BCCI, the penalty was the first violation against Lucknow Super Giants regarding the slow over-rate during this season, according to the IPL’s Code of Conduct. Therefore, he faced the first sanction for such instances.
According to the code of conduct for the IPL, repeated offenses for slow over rates are charged with increasing penalties. A second offense would see the captain fined ₹24 lakh alongside the imposition of other fines on the team members. The third could incur as much as a 30 lakh fine and a one-match suspension to the captain as well as further penalties to the team.
In this match, LSG won by 12 runs over MI to get their second win of the season. Pant could manage only 2 runs in 6 balls. Pant is out of touch this season, as he has not scored in double digits till now.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was also fined for slow over-rate earlier in the season during their match against Gujarat Titans. While Riyan Parag was also fined for slow over-rate against Chennai Super Kings. Thus, referring to the strict application of the rules regarding over-rates that the IPL maintains.
