SEC batted first, scoring a hefty 184 runs for losing 6 wickets in the overs. Captain Markram played an anchoring knock with an innings of 62 in 40 balls. Striking 8 fours and 2 sixes along the way. He was supported by opener David Bedingham with 27 off 14 balls. Their partnership gave SEC a chance to set a challenging target for JSK.
Joburg Super Kings Innings
Chasing 185, JSK was dealt early blows by a grounded performance by SEC’s bowling unit. Devon Conway and Jonny Bairstow were the only successful batters. They managed 30 runs off 20 balls and 37 runs off 17 balls respectively. The lower order did not build any support for the top order. Thus, the JSK managed to post just 152 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Bowling Highlights
The Sunrisers’ bowling effort was a cohesive one. Craig Overton did well, taking two wickets for 20 runs while putting constant pressure on the JSK batsmen. He was well supported by the other bowlers, who were economical in their spells, furthering Bailey’s KO over the run chase of JSK.
