Shakib Al Hasan To Continue Playing Until Proven Guilty In Ongoing Case. Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan continues to be an integral part of his country’s cricket team despite being embroiled in a serious legal situation. The veteran cricketer is facing charges in connection with the death of a garment worker, Mohammad Rubel, during political unrest that rocked Dhaka earlier this month when Shakib and 155 others were named by the victim’s father in a murder case.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided not to suspend or take any actions against Shakib that would prevent him from participating in an ongoing Test series against Pakistan. According to the BCB, it is because Shakib is still seen as “innocent until proven guilty”. They also stated that, they will be closely monitoring the legal proceedings.

This portrays yet another layer of complexity in Shakib’s already controversial career. For years he has been at the centre of Bangladesh’s cricket success story, but his involvement in this matter, together with his previous ban by the ICC for failing to report corruption, puts him at a risk.
