Shikhar Dhawan Announces Retirement from International And Domestic Cricket: Shikhar Dhawan, known in the cricketing arena as “Gabbar” has officially declared his retirement from international and domestic cricket today. The legendary player broke this information in an emotional video which he posted on his social media account, thus wrapping up a twelve-year-old career that has seen him scale great heights as one of the most successful batsmen in India.
In his message, Dhawan talked of how grateful he was for the opportunities and experiences that came his way during his career. “It is important to turn the page in life to move forward; hence, I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket,” Dhawan said. He remembered how happy and peaceful he had been all these years while stressing that though he would not play for India anymore, it felt good for him to have played on behalf of the nation.

Shikhar Dhawan’s career stats
Dhawan’s career was marked with several achievements across all formats of the game. He dominated mainly in one-day internationals (ODIs), scoring 6793 runs at an average of 44.11, including 17 hundred and 39 fifties. Together with Rohit Sharma at the top, they formed one of the most formidable partnerships in world cricket, particularly during ICC tournaments where his average was 53.70 in World Cups but bumped up even further to 77.88 within champions trophies.

In Test cricket, Dhawan had a remarkable performance with 2,315 runs scoring an average of 40.61, highlighted by an incredible debut innings of 187 against Australia in the year 2013. The end of December 2022 marked the last appearance of Dhawan for India, again limited over format, despite him having been one of the core players for all these years.
