Sony India Secures Asia Cup Broadcasting Rights for 2024–2031: Sony Pictures Networks India has obtained exclusive media rights to Asia Cup cricket tournaments for 2024-2031. With this deal in place, Sony maintains its leadership in cricket broadcasting as it gets to show eight more editions of the famous Asia Cup, which also accommodates the One Day International and T20 formats of the game.

The acquisition means that the Indian audiences will not miss any important clashes, especially the highly anticipated clashes between India and Pakistan, which is the main highlight of the entire tournament.

Asia Cup Media Rights

This comes after a thorough bidding exercise that was conducted under the supervision of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). There are market rumors that the rights were quite expensive because of the tournament’s popularity and because it is an important money-generating activity for the broadcasters responsible for its airing, especially in cricketing nations like India. The minimum worth of the said media rights was pegged at $170 million, indicative of the high worth attached to the event.

The rights, therefore, come as an enhancement to its cricket portfolio, which already boasts of large properties such as the England and Wales Cricket Board games and international games featuring Sri Lanka and New Zealand. In addition to this victory where Sony has emerged champion, there is also Viacom18 and Star Sports, who are keen on cricket rights for other tournaments.
