T20 World Cup 2026: List Of Teams Directly Qualified For The Tournament In India And Sri Lanka. The ICC has selected India and Sri Lanka for the T20 World Cup 2026. The eight teams that made it to the Super 8 round in the T20 World Cup this year will directly qualify for the 2026 edition. Next year’s field will be joined by the T20 2024 edition Champions Sri Lanka, who even though did not reach the Super 8 stage, sealed their place in the upcoming T20 World Cup as co-hosts of the event with India.
For the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the top 12 teams out of the current 20 participating in WC 2024, are the qualifying criteria that will directly qualify for the next tournament.
The two host countries, India and Sri Lanka will be the first two teams to be guaranteed entry into the T20 World Cup, and since the 2024 edition, the Super 8 stage has been added to the teams that go through to the next tournament automatically.
India is assured of a spot in the Super 8 stage from Group A in this year’s edition thanks to the fact that it has passed two qualification criteria. Notably, India secures an outright place in the T20 World Cup by qualifying for the Super 8 stage in T20 WC 2024, irrespective of the country’s status as the host of the event.

T20 World Cup Qualification Criteria
At the 2026 T20 World Cup, 12 teams will qualify directly. This group will consist of the Super 8 teams from the T20 World Cup 2024 which are: India, England, Bangladesh, West Indies, Australia, South Africa, USA, and Afghanistan. In the meantime, Sri Lanka is confirmed to play as the co-host of the T20 WC 2026. The last three places will taken by the teams that occupy them on the ICC T20I rankings till the end of June 30, 2024.
Teams Directly Qualified for ICC T20 World Cup 2026
The teams listed below are the ones who have obtained direct qualification for the T20 World Cup 2026: India and Sri Lanka have been qualified as the co-hosts of the game. Following their advancement to the Super 8 stage in the T20 World Cup 2024, England, Bangladesh, West Indies, Australia, South Africa, USA, and Afghanistan also earned direct qualification. These teams warranted their inclusion on account of their performance in the last competition.
