Updated WTC 2025 points Table After SA vs SL 1st Test, Proteas Jumps To 2nd: The victory of South Africa with a whopping margin of 233 runs in the very first Test against Sri Lanka at Durban has caused changes to the ICC WTC 2025 points table. The Proteas jumped into second place with a points percentage (PCT) of 59.26. Australia fell to third with a PCT of 57.69.
India remains at the top of the table with a PCT of 61.11%. Currently engaged in a test series against England, New Zealand completes the top four with a PCT of 54.55. Sri Lanka is in fifth place, earning from this defeat with a PCT of 50.00.

The Durban Test certainly spoke of two innings for South Africa. Having been bowled out for 191 in the first innings, their second saw the historic performance by Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs. They forged a 249-run partnership and saw these players making centuries. Marco Jansen’s seven-wicket haul in Sri Lanka’s first innings demolished the visiting side to a lowly 42—the lowest Test total ever. South Africa closed their second innings on 366/5, setting Sri Lanka a daunting chase of 516 runs.

There were firing performances in Dinesh Chandimal’s 83 and Dhananjaya de Silva’s 59. Sri Lanka bucked up against a relentless South African bowling attack once more. Jansen added four more wickets to his altogether in the 2nd innings.
South Africa has put itself firmly in the running for a WTC final place with this victory, underlining how competitive this championship really is among all the teams trying to get to the top two.
