Women’s IPL 2023: Reliance Backed Viacom18 Wins Media Rights For 951 Crore. Reliance backed Viacom18 won the Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights for the next five years (2023-2027) for a whopping INR 951 crore. That means the broadcaster will pay INR 7.09 crore per match for the next 5 years. Board Of Control For Cricket In India ( BCCI) will come out the five Women’s IPL franchises on 25 January 2023.
The news comes on Monday confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on his Twitter account. It is a massive development for women’s cricket in India as Women Indian Premier League (WIPL) media rights was auctioned.
The Women’s T20 Challenge was initially held as an mounting tournament, but the BCCI last year eventually made the decision to introduce the Women’s IPL. WIPL’s first season’s opening match is scheduled for March 2023.
Though BCCI has not officially released the tournament’s schedule, but it is widely believed that the inaugural season, which would consist of 22 matches, will take place between March 5 and March 23.
