After losing the toss, DC was put into bat and immediately suffered a huge loss when Shafali Verma was out for a golden duck. Smriti Mandhana caught her on an in-swinging delivery by Renuka Singh Thakur. Captain Meg Lanning (17) and Jemimah Rodrigues (34) attempted stabilizing their innings, but Rodrigues was stumped after looking good.
Lanning was caught at deep fine leg, which put more strain on the cause of DC. Kapp and Jess Jonassen tried their best to rescue the DC. They were all out on 141 with three balls remaining. Renuka Singh Thakur was essential to DC, dislodging crucial top-order wickets by keeping up the pressure.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Response
RCB was chasing down a 142-run target. The opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Danielle Wyatt-Hodge gave RCB a respectable start. Mandhana played a brilliant innings with an aggressive touch of 81 runs off just 47 balls. That was coupled with some exquisite shot selection. Wyatt-Hodge kept her captain going forward and maintained a steady increase in the run rate.
Mandhana’s outstanding 81 stayed strong for RCB to win even after her departure, while Richa Ghosh sealed an emphatic win with a six that led RCB to 146/2 and won the game quite comfortably.
