WPL 2025: RCB vs DC Match Summary
RCB’s Innings
RCB, having batted against their better judgment, seemed lost scoring runs against the disciplined bowling of DC. Though the efforts of captain Ellyse Perry, the only one to play a somewhat resilient innings with the bat at 60 off 47, were commendable. Very little else clicked for the RCB company in setting up their score, as they were bowled out for 147. DC openers Shikha Pandey (2/24) and Nallapureddy Charani (2/28) were instrumental in restricting RCB to a modest score.
DC’s Chase
Chasing 147 for victory, a cheap wicket tumbled for 2 when Renuka Singh dismissed Meg Lanning, the opener for DC, very early. Shafali Verma set the tone with a breakneck start. Verma’s quickfire 80 off 43 balls and Jonassen’s explosive 61 off just 38 deliveries ensured a speedy chase. The duo’s partnership made RCB’s bowlers look pedestrian as the target was reached by DC comfortably in 15.3 overs, losing just one wicket.
Key Performances
Shafali Verma (DC): 80 not out, with 10 fours and three sixes, displayed her dominance at the crease.
Jess Jonassen (DC): The all-rounder’s half-century provided stability and momentum to the chase.
Shikha Pandey (RCB): A key destroyer of the DC batting line, her figures were 2/24.
The win strengthens DC’s position at the top of the points table in WPL 2025 and also sends out a strong statement as far as their championship ambitions go. Meanwhile, RCB will have to rethink and strategize for their further games to stay alive in the playoffs.
