WPL 2025: RCB Beat Gujarat Giants by 6 Wickets in the First Game of the Season: The WPL 2025 season kicked off in terrific style when Royal Challengers Bengaluru trounced Gujarat Giants by six wickets at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara, on February 14, 2025.
RCB won the toss and opted to field first. GG made an attacking start with captain Ashleigh Gardner having the innings anchored to perfection with an impeccable knock of 79 not out in just 37 deliveries, including eight sixes. Another excellent contribution of 56 runs came off the willow of Beth Mooney from 42 balls. GG finished on 201/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, RCB lost its openers Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt-Hodge. Both of whom fell in the second tier on a duck. Later, Ellyse Perry steadied the innings with her 57 off 34 balls. The match was undoubtedly turned around. Thanks to a hurricane partnership for the fifth wicket between Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja. It saw them put together an unbeaten 93-run stand.
This was made possible by Richa’s scintillating 64 not out of 27, in conjunction with Kanika’s quick-fire 30 not out of 13, and at that, piloted RCB home with nine balls left.

This chase of success thus far is a record beginning in WPL history to open the season high. RCB will meet Delhi Capitals on February 17, 2025, while the GG will try to bounce back against UP Warriorz on February 16, 2025.
