WPL 2025: UP Warriorz Triumph Over RCB in Nail-Biting Super Over Clash: In a heart-thumping contest on February 24, 2025, witnessed at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, UP Warriorz had a narrow escape against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a Super Over finish during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. The two teams ended their innings stuck at 180 runs at the end of their respective 20 overs. This resulted in the tournament’s first Super Over.

RCB Innings
Opting to bat first RCB set an imposing target of 180 runs for a loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Most of the innings were built by Ellyse Perry. She scored 90 runs in 56 balls and proved her experience while she played. Further, Danni Wyatt-Hodge supported with an accelerated knock of 57 from 41 deliveries. Chenille Henry, Deepti Sharma, and Tahlia McGrath got one wicket each for the team.

UP Warriorz Innings
The UP Warriorz team faced an early tremor but jumped to a steady posture through some effort from Shweta Sehrawat (31 off 25 balls) and a crucial late flourish from Sophie Ecclestone, who was not out, scoring 33 off 19 balls. These efforts brought the team equally, finishing with an all-out score of 180. The highest wicket-taker turned out to be Sneh Rana from RCB, taking 3 wickets for 33 runs.
The Super Over Decider
From UP Warriorz, they first batted in the Super Over and only made 8 runs, wherein Sophie Ecclestone and Grace Harris were at the crease. When RCB batted, only 4 runs were received, thanks to disciplined bowling by Ecclestone under pressure. Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh, who came to bat in the super over, managed to score only 4 runs. Ecclestone’s performance as both a bowler and a batsman led her to receive the award for Player of the Match.
Another chapter in what appears to be a long-standing rivalry has been added; between RCB and the UP Warriorz, there is much talent and determination shown by both teams for setting new benchmarks for the remainder of the WPL 2025 season.
