WTC 2023-25 SA vs WI Test Series: South Africa Announces 16-Member Squad. South Africa has opted to rest all-rounder Marco Jansen for the Test series against West Indies. Since his debut in 2021, Jansen has played a crucial role in the Test team, taking 49 wickets and scoring 401 runs in 13 matches.
The team nominated Matthew Breetzke, who made his first international appearance for the squad by scoring 322 runs on an average of 46 in South Africa’s previous domestic season. Additionally, he was captain of the African tour to India in December. For the first time since March 2023, Ryan Rickelton is called up to the squad, although he missed the last matches against India and New Zealand. This talented young man was a wicketkeeper/batsman and has since his premier in 2022 played four Tests.
Temba Bavuma, Matthew Breetzke, Tony de Zorzi, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Dane Paterson, Tristan Stubbs, and Kyle Verreynne are preparing to participate in the red-ball team training camp in Durban from 15 to 19 July. The entire squad will fly to Trinidad and Tobago on 27 July. South Africa will then play a four-day warm-up match against West Indies Invitational XI at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy before the first Test on 7 August.
