Jannik Sinner is turning heads at the US Open 2024 despite a tumultuous past few months over failed drug tests. But the Italian put all behind him to focus on his game and defeated Tommy Paul in the fourth round of the US Open 7-6(3) 7-6(5) 6-1. Paul has shown astounding consistency at major tournaments. He also won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics in men’s doubles with Taylor Fritz.
However, Sinner proved to be a tough competitor. The World No. 1 set the game’s pace with his powerful serves and rebounds. Paul had the crowd on their feet, but Sinner had great comebacks and took over the sets in no time. He was unstoppable.
The champion highlighted that there were ups and downs in the game but he found his rhythm and is looking forward to the next match.

Sinner has emerged as the eighth men’s singles player since 2000 to have reached the quarterfinal in all four majors this season. He is set to face Daniil Medvedev in a nail-biting quarterfinal showdown. This will not be the first faceoff between Sinner and Medvedev. They have played at the Australian Open in January and at Wimbledon in July. The Italian defeated the Russian tennis player in the Australian Open but bowed down in the French Open quarterfinals.
Sinner is looking forward to the match and hopeful of a win. “It’s going to be a lot of running,” he said.
