On Monday Jannik Sinner opened The Championship as the top seed for the first time in his career at the Wimbledon 2024. After claiming the No. 1 ranking at the French Open, he faced a tough first round against Yannick Hanfmann.
Sinner had a rocky first set but managed to get into full control 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. The third set was nerve-wracking for the Italian and overcame it with a strong recovery in the last set. The World No.1 said it’s tough to recover but he reacted very positively in the fourth set and ended as a winner.
He shared that it’s a huge privilege and honor to be in the position that he is. There is no better place than to be in Wimbledon playing his first Grand Slam as World No.1. About his slips and tumbles in the game, Sinner said the grass was wet in the early going but they closed the roof and the court got much drier, making it easier for him.
And now Sinner, 22, is in the second round. The Australian Open 2024 Grand Slam champion believes he played pretty well. Sinner acknowledged that he missed a couple of shots, saying the initial round matches are never easy. But he is happy to be through and into the next round. The young tennis player wants to raise his level and get into a rhythm.

Jannik Sinner to Face Matteo Berrettini
Sinner is set to play against yet another tough opponent and fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini in the second round at Wimbledon. He said it will surely be a tough match as Berrettini, 28, played the Wimbledon final in 2021 and very well knows how to play on the grass courts. Sinner is looking forward to the match.
