WPL 2025: Full List Of Players Retained And Released By Each Team: As the 2025 mini-auction approaches, the teams of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) have finalized their player retention and releases strategically. The outlook of the teams is to enhance the strength of the team and the depth of the squad without overshooting the salary cap. The table of retained and released players to each franchise tells the risks and the future planning associated with it.

The mini-auction allows the teams to realign any strategy they may feel improves their overall team performance and which could have been exposed in previous seasons. The budgets are impacting player retention and recruitment. It is ranging from INR 2.5 crore for DC to INR 4.4 crore for GG. In most cases, some new players are added to existing players retained by the franchise.

This auction is likely to shake up the WPL as it will bring in new players. It will prepare them for the stiff competition of trying to balance the various sections of the squads.

WPL 2025: Retained and Released Players

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Key Retained Players: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia, Amelia Kerr, Chloe Tryon, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Pooja Vastrakar, Sajeevan Sajana, Shabnim Ismail, Saika Ishaque, Jintimani Kalita, Amanjot Kaur, Amandeep Kaur, Keerthana

Released Players: Fatima Jadder, Priyanka Bala, Humairaa Kaazi, Isabelle Wong

Remaining Budget: Approximately INR 2.65 crore.

Mumbai has kept their core intact, with an eye on retaining top all-rounders. Harmanpreet and Sciver-Brunt will continue to lead a balanced team.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

Key Retained Players: Meg Lanning (c), Annabel Sutherland, Jemimah Rodrigues, Taniya Bhatia, Marizanne Kapp, Radha Yadav, Shikha Panedey, Arundhati Reddy, Alice Capsey, Jess Jonassen, Titas Sadhu, Minnu Mani, Shafali Verma, Sneha Deepthi

Released Players: Poonam Yadav, Laura Harris, Ashwani Kumari, Aparna Mondal

Remaining Budget: INR 2.5 crore.

DC’s focus remains on young, aggressive talents like Shafali and Rodrigues, with the backing of seasoned internationals. The team has let go of some seasoned players to freshen the roster.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

Key Retained Players: Smriti Mandhana (c), Georgia Wareham, Shreyanka Patil, Sabbineni Meghana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Asha Sobhana, Kate Cross, Sophie Devine, Renuka Singh, Sophie Molineux, Ekta Bisht, Kanika Ahuja, Danni Wyatt-Hodge 

Released Players: Shubha Satheesh, Disha Kasat, Indrani Roy, Nadine de Klerk, Shraddha Pokarkar, Simran Bahadur

Remaining Budget: INR 3.25 crore.

Last season winner RCB has retained core players with a mix of explosive batting and all-round capability. Return of Smriti Mandhana as the team’s central figure looking towards 2025 while still able to rely on big hitters.

UP Warriorz (UPW)

Key Retained Players: Alyssa Healy (c), Kiran Navgire, Uma Chetry, Shweta Sehrawat, Poonam Khemnar, Deepti Sharma, Chamari Athapaththu, Saima Thakor, Grace Harris, Sophie Ecclestone, Tahlia McGrath, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Anjali Sarvani, Gouher Sultana, and Vrinda Dinesh

Released Players: S Yashasri, Laxmi Yadav, Parshavi Chopra, Lauren Bell

Remaining Budget: INR 3.9 crore.

UP Warriorz retains a strong international lineup with Healy and McGrath at the top; however,  their focus is limited to spinners and all-rounders, as evident by Ecclestone’s hold.

Gujarat Giants (GG)

Key Retained Players: Beth Mooney (c), Harleen Deol, Laura Wolvaardt, Phoebe Litchfield, Ash Gardner, Kashvee Gautam, Tanuja Kanwer, Mannat Kashyap, Meghna Singh, Shabnam Shakil, Bharti Fulmali, Priya Mishra, Dayalan Hemalatha, Sayali Satghare
