WPL Auction 2025: Key Details, Player Pool, and Team Strategies: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) Auction 2025 is one of the most awaited cricketing events of the year. It holds the most awaited competition within the franchises to grab some top talents. This mini-auction is going to be held today, December 15, 2024, in Bengaluru. This time, 120 players are in the pool for the auction. This means there are both experienced stars and emerging ones in the mix. So, excitement for the fans is in the air, along with a chance for teams, from an operational point of view, to reconstruct their squads wisely.

Auction Format and Player Pool

There will be 120 players attending the auction, with 91 being Indian players while the remaining 29 are international. Three are coming from Associate Nations like Scotland and the UAE. The players have been grouped into very much capped and uncapped. Their reserve prices ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh. Some of the high-profile names to headline the ₹50 lakh bracket include Heather Knight, Deandra Dottin, and, of course, Lizelle Lee, while the promising Indian talents are weighted mainly in the uncapped section.

Team Purse and Strategies

The five franchises—Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and UP Warriorz—go into this auction with different purse balances. Gujarat Giants have the highest purse, standing at ₹4.4 crore. In contrast, the Delhi Capitals purse stands at ₹2.5 crore, which is the least among the franchisees. The franchises plan to fill in the 19 slots, including five overseas players. Striking a good balance between veterans and young talent. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, last season’s champions, are expected to strengthen their domestic talent pool.
