Asia Cup 2022: 6 Reasons Why Team India Is On The Brink Of Being Eliminated From The Final Race
Poor Team Selection
On the day when the team for Asia Cup 2022 was announced, everyone pointed out the decision to include only 3 main fast bowlers. Out of this, 2 are almost new to International cricket. Everyone feared that it could become dangerous for India. The same thing panned out in the tournament.
India missed the services of Bumrah and Harshal Patel(both injured). The selectors could have made the attack strong by picking Shami or Umran, but they did not do so. In the batting, Shikhar Dhawan should have been included. He has time and again proved his worth. But, the selectors had other ideas. KL Rahul also seemed not to recover fully from his injury, and it also had a negative effect on the team.

Injury To Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja played a vital role in the win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 league stage match. His presence had made the team balance good. But, the moment Ravindra Jadeja got injured, the entire team suffered.
His exclusion from the team forced the management to make unwanted changes. His 4 overs of bowling could have made a huge difference in the matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the middle over, which India lacked.
Ashwin Not Picked In The Playing XI
Ravichandran Ashwin is the most experienced bowler in the current Indian spin attack. He was included in the 15-member squad but was given an opportunity only in the match against Sri Lanka. If he had got more opportunities, things could have been different.
With his variety and experience, Ashwin should be a regular member of the playing X1. But, he has more often than not warmed the bench and has become a water boy for the team.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep, And Avesh Poor Performance
Bhubaneshwar Kumar is the premier bowler in the current T20 team for India in the absence of Bumrah. A lot of expectations were on him to deliver for the team. But, sadly, in both the loss against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s penultimate over cost India the match. Against Pakistan, he conceded 19 runs in the 19th over.
In the last match against Sri Lanka, he gave away 14 runs in the 19th over. Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan also gave away many runs in the power play in all the matches, which was also a reason for poor bowling performance.
Pant Preferred Over Dinesh Karthik
In the first two matches against Pakistan and Hong Kong, Dinesh Karthik was included in the team ahead of Rishabh Pant. But, he did not get ample opportunity to bat. But, after the injury to Jadeja, Rishabh Pant was preferred in the playing XI. He did not bat according to the expectation.

Dinesh Karthik might have made the difference with his experience and finishing touch, which the Indian batters lacked in their last 2 matches of the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 stage.
Lack Of Proper Strategy Of Coach And Captain
Rohit Sharma was not instrumental with his decision-making in the matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Deepak Hooda was picked in the playing XI against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma could have asked him to bowl a few overs when the pace bowlers were leaking runs. But, it did not happen.
The placement of the right fielders in the right position was also missing. Rahul Dravid, as a coach, failed to guide the team in the pre-match preparations, and it was clearly visible on the ground.
