West Ham has signed up Crysencio Summerville into a five-year contract for a reportedly £25 million deal with Leeds United. This is less than what the Elland Road FC was looking for, as the Dutchman was the star of the team having played 49 matches across all competitions and 21 goals last season.
Finance expert Stefan Borson said Leeds United went ahead with the sale, and remained within their allowance losses limit. He highlighted that it’s difficult to analyze Leeds because he doesn’t know what their costs were for last season. Borson said they won’t know that until early next year, but it’s for sure that Leeds United breached the profitability and sustainability rule (PSR) if it had not parted ways with Archie Gray.
The expert believes that the club’s cost base without promotion prompts them to sell players to meet, and Summerville, who was the Championship’s Player of the Season from last term, was one of them. Borson added that Leeds United sold off the winger for far less than it would have intended to get for him six months ago.
