India Faces Tight Schedule With Just One Warm-up Match Before T20 World Cup 2024. This limited preparation is likely due to travel and time constraints. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 concludes on May 26th, making securing matches elsewhere challenging. Initially scheduled to fly to New York on May 21st after the league stage of IPL 2024, recent updates confirm the team will now travel in batches on May 25th and 26th to accommodate players participating in the IPL final.
India’s strategic decisions regarding warm-up matches are becoming clearer. As per Cricbuzz reports, the early host, West Indies, initially wanted a warm-up match against India in Florida; however, India might decline due to the logical difficulties of traveling from New York to Florida and back for a single practice game. This decision is based on the fact that three of India’s four group matches will be played in New York, with the remaining one in Florida.
The tournament kicks off on Sunday, June 2nd, with the United States facing Canada at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Additionally, England and Pakistan’s bilateral series concludes on May 30th, potentially limiting their warm-up opportunities. In contrast, other teams seem to be scheduled for two warm-up matches.
