IPL 2023 Auction: Date, Time, Rules, Venue & Players List. IPL 2023 auction is expected to take place in February next year. As you are aware, the IPL mega auction takes place every 3 years. The last IPL mega auction took place this year. It also marked the beginning of a new era where 10 teams would fight for the trophy. Since the IPL 2023 auction won’t be on the same lines as the IPL 2022 mega auction because it will be a general yearly auction, we still hope the same neck-to-neck battle to purchase the best players will be noticed.
IPL 2023 auction is expected to match the intensity of the recently held IPL 2022 mega auction. If we talk about the major highlights of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Ishan Kishan was the center of attraction, as he was purchased for the highest bidding amount of 15.25 crores.
Among other top buyers were Liam Livingston (11.5 crores), Deepak Chahar (14 crores), Shardul Thakur(10.75 crores), etc. The noticeable omissions were Suresh Raina, Ishant Sharma, Joe Root, Steve Smith, Amit Mishra, etc.

What to expect from the IPL 2023 auction?
IPL 2023 auction will be one of the most anticipated events in the cricket fraternity. In the ongoing IPL 2022, a few teams, such as Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals, etc., have performed exceptionally well. On the contrary, the two most successful teams in IPL history, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have performed poorly this season. In fact, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have become the first team in the history of IPL to lose the first 7 games. They are at the bottom of the IPL 2022 points table

It was evident from the way Mumbai Indians did not go aggressively in the IPL 2022 mega auction. They did not have a balanced team. Releasing players such as Hardik Pandya, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, etc., proved very costly. They would be eager to iron out these issues in the upcoming IPL 2023 auction.
Chennai Super Kings have won just 2 games from the 7 played so far and are almost knocked out of the competition. CSK played on the same old lines, backing their old horses in the IPL 2022 mega auction. This backfired on the men in yellow this season.
With the absence of Deepak Chahar, they lack experience in their bowling attack. The batting also lacks firepower. Chennai will look to go hammer and tongs to purchase a few experienced bowlers in IPL 2023 auction.

IPL 2022 Performance Will Be The Key
After the completion of TATA IPL 2022 on 29th May, the teams will get a fair idea of what went wrong in this season. They will then brainstorm about the new prospects for IPL 2023 auction. Overall, the upcoming IPL 2023 auction will be an opportunity for the weak teams to iron out their shortcoming and for the strong teams to make a perfect squad.
5-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians & 4-time champion Chennai Super Kings(CSK) will especially focus on IPL 2023 auction because of their disastrous performance in the ongoing tournament.
