IPL 2023 Auction: Mumbai Indians (MI) Release And Probable Players List . Indian Premier League is set to witness the 16th edition next year. The year 2023 is going to be action-packed, with two premier tournaments, the IPL and the ICC Men’s world cup 2023, to be organized in the biggest cricket nation India. The recently concluded IPL 2022 saw the debutant Gujarat Titans lifting the trophy.
However, the team with the most IPL trophy, Mumbai Indians, had a terrible season, where they finished the tournament at the bottom-most position, with just 4 wins from 14 matches. They will have to brainstorm a lot regarding a good team combination and picking the right players before the IPL 2023 auction. Let us analyze first the performance of MI in the 15th edition.

Mumbai Indian’s IPL 2022 Journey
Mumbai Indians were criticized for their poor IPL 2022 mega auction strategy. The franchise relied heavily on a few players and spent money like water. The men in blue started the IPL 2022 campaign in a disastrous manner, losing the first 8 games on the trot. It was the first time any IPL franchise had continuously lost their first 8 games.
From there on, it was just a formality for them. Mumbai seemed completely off balance throughout the season. Barring a few players, the entire squad played as if, they had come for a vacation. The players showed no positive intent, and the captaincy of Rohit Sharma was off-color.
Mumbai lacked intent in the season. Ishan Kishan, the highest-paid player in IPL 2022 mega auction, could not justify his price tag in the initial few matches. However, he played better in the last few games but was of no use. The captain of Mumbai Indians and one of the most successful T20 batsmen, Rohit Sharma, had a season to forget with the bat. He scored just 268 runs in 14 innings without a single half-century.
This meant that MI could not get a good start, which resulted in pressure on the middle-order right from the word go. The bowlers also failed to take wickets early, making the opposition score freely.
