The players to watch out for
Sam Curran, who bagged the man of the series award for his incredible performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, is among the set of players who have kept the highest base price for the auction. Apart from him, Kane Williamson, Ben Stokes, Cameroon Green, and Nicholas Pooran, are some prominent names who have set their base price of Rs 2 crore. These players will surely be hot buys in the upcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction.
The Indian contingent
It is very surprising to not see any Indian player who has kept their base price at Rs 2 core. The list of Indian-capped players includes Ajinkya Rahane, Mayank Agarwal, Ishant Sharma, Manish Pandey, etc.
They have been part of IPL for quite some time now, but have kept their base price below 1.5 crores, as their performances have deteriorated in recent times.
The missing names
Dwane Bravo, who was released by the Chennai Super Kings this year, has not given his name for the IPL 2023 mini-auction. It seems he will hang his boots before the next auction. Other players such as Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne are also some of the noticeable names missing this time.

The new rule of “impact player”
IPL 2023, will witness something special. BCCI has announced that they will be introducing a new rule called “impact player”. Under this rule, the captain of both teams will declare 4 players under the “impact player” category in the squad. This will be apart from the playing 11.
One of the players from the impact category can replace any of the existing 11 players after the completion of 14 overs for any team. This is somewhat followed in football, which will now be implemented in the IPL.
