Paris Olympics 2024: Lakshya Sen Falls to Viktor Axelsen In Badminton Semifinal. Lakshya Sen lost to Denmark’s defending Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen with scores of 20-22, 14-21 in the men’s singles semifinal on Sunday afternoon. Lakshya will compete against Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in the bronze medal match on Monday, while Axelsen will face Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in the final.
In the first game, Axelsen’s height and reach did not win him the match, as Lakshya stayed strong. Even though Axelsen had a strong returning serve, Lakshya was in the lead 11-9 at the break. They were engaged in long rallies, with the drift affecting Axelsen’s shots not to be able to hit the target and thus, Lakshya keeping competitive.

Lakshya had a five-point advantage and three game points, but he still lost the first game 20-22.
Like the first game, this one also featured long rallies, a few mistakes, and misjudgments in reading the returns. Lakshya Lechas quickly got off to a 7-0 lead, but Axelsen then leveled the score at 10-10. Nevertheless, he was able to narrowly secure a lead of 11-10 during the break.
Nonetheless, the Dane peaked in the crucial moments of the match, taking down Laksya Sen with a barrage of blows to the second part of the game. He finished the game with a score of 21-14, which in turn means the match was ours and we progressed to the Olympic singles final. Importantly, Axelsen remains unbeaten in Paris.
