The legendary Rafael Nadal is set to end his career on a high note by pairing with Carlos Alcaraz at the Davis Cup Finals next month. He will retire from the world of tennis as a 22-time Grand Slam champion.
The Davis Cup will be Nadal’s last professional tournament. He will retire after representing his country Spain at the Davis Cup Finals alongside Alcaraz. This will bring an end to Nadal’s colorful tennis career that spans 23 years, including being World No.1 for 209 weeks and two Olympic gold medals.
Alcaraz, 21, who played alongside Nadal at the French Open, and then the Paris Olympics, believes the senior Spaniard’s legacy is unrepeatable. He tweeted “From the child who watched you on television and dreamed of becoming a tennis player to the one who had the immense gift of playing alongside you at Roland Garros representing Spain in the Olympic Games.”

Novak Djokovic on Greatest Rival Rafael Nadal
Novak Djokovic, who is still going strong and playing against youngsters like Alcaraz, said Nadal has been his greatest rival. He highlighted that this impacted most of his career so far.
About Nadal’s retirement, the Serbian said it’s a shock for him. He shared that it’s a bit overwhelming for him, with Roger Federer having retired a few years ago, then Andy Murray this year, and now Nadal. “I don’t know what to make of it,” Djokovic said.
He added that Nadal is an inspiration. Djokovic played against Nadal at the Paris Olympics. They faced off around 60 times in their career.
