Zaheer Khan To Be LSG’s Mentor for IPL 2025: Reports. According to Cricbuzz Zaheer Khan is currently in talks with the Lucknow Super Giants about taking on the mentor role. If these discussions are successful, he might replace two key individuals in the northern IPL franchise. The Super Giants have no mentor due to Gautam Gambhir’s departure to KKR in 2023.
Now, with Morne Morkel also leaving, there’s a new vacancy. The pair of Gautam Gambhir and Morne, who was the team’s bowling coach for three seasons, have either already joined or are close to joining the Indian national team.
Sources within the IPL say that Zaheer is on their list for the position that was occupied by Gambhir before. He might also help the Lucknow Super Giants’ bowlers with his know-how. Furthermore, he would form an essential connection with the players and also with the management, as the owner of the team is very keen on the game.
Zaheer Khan, under the supervision of Gautam Gambhir, was at a time the desired candidate between the selection of Team India and the bowling coach role, particularly to tutor the young quicks who were coming up the ranks. He is respected as a role scholar. It was still the case when Zaheer was a player that he used to direct and coach the last ones in the bowling department of an Indian team.

Zaheer’s name was not on the final list of Indian team members since the BCCI chose Morne Morkel most probably by Gautam Gambhir’s suggestion. Nevertheless, Zaheer has sufficient coaching experience in the IPL where he was a former coach of the Mumbai Indians.
Should he join the Lucknow Super Giants, not only will he be in charge of Justin Langer’s team but he will also work with Adam Voges, Lance Klusener, and Jonty Rhodes. The report hinted at another big-name coach joining the side, but it did not provide specific details.
