ICC T20 World Cup 2026

ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Last-Minute Bangladesh Replacement Scotland Announces Squad. Scotland have announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The global tournament will begin on February 7, across venues in India and Sri Lanka. Scotland enter the competition as a last-minute replacement for Bangladesh, who withdrew earlier this month.

The International Cricket Council confirmed Scotland’s inclusion after reviewing qualification standings. Scotland was the highest-ranked team outside automatic qualification, earning a deserved late call-up.

Berrington Continues as Captain

Experienced all-rounder Richie Berrington will continue to lead the Scottish side. Berrington remains Scotland’s most reliable batter in T20 internationals. He is also Scotland’s leading run-scorer in the shortest international format. The batting unit features aggressive opener George Munsey, known for powerplay dominance. Matthew Cross adds stability and wicketkeeping strength in the middle order. Tom Bruce and Michael Jones provide flexibility across batting positions.

All-round depth comes from Brandon McMullen, Scotland’s standout performer in recent ICC events. McMullen has consistently delivered with both bat and ball under pressure. Michael Leask and Chris Greaves strengthen the middle overs with hitting and spin.

Bowling Attack Offers Variety

Scotland’s bowling attack looks balanced for subcontinental conditions. Left-arm spinner Mark Watt remains the team’s most economical T20 bowler. Watt has over 80 T20I wickets at an impressive average. Veteran pacer Safyaan Sharif leads the fast-bowling group. Sharif is Scotland’s highest wicket-taker in T20 internationals.

Bradley Wheal and Bradley Currie provide pace and bounce. Youngsters Oliver Davidson and Finlay McCreath add depth to the bowling resources. Afghanistan-born pacer Zainullah Ihsan earns a maiden World Cup call-up.
