IND vs NZ 2nd T20I: Harshit Rana Gets Maiden Wicket

IND vs NZ 2nd T20I: Harshit Rana Gets Maiden Wicket Despite Arshdeep’s Unwanted Record. India’s second T20I against New Zealand turned memorable with standout performances and a historic milestone. The match marked India’s 100th T20I played on home soil, the most by any nation. Fast bowler Harshit Rana delivered the defining moment early in the innings.

Rana bowled a sensational maiden over inside the powerplay. He conceded zero runs and picked up one crucial wicket. The wicket came in the fourth over, stopping New Zealand’s aggressive start. Rana finished his spell with impressive powerplay figures. He bowled two overs in the power play, conceding fewer than ten runs. His economy rate remained under five runs per over. Such control is rare during the high-risk powerplay phase.

Arshdeep Singh’s Unwanted Record

The maiden over shifted momentum firmly in India’s favour. New Zealand were forced to slow their scoring rate immediately. Rana’s spell highlighted his ability to deliver under pressure. However, the match also produced an unwanted statistic for Arshdeep Singh.

Arshdeep conceded 36 runs in 12 powerplay balls against New Zealand. Earlier, he had conceded 35 runs in 12 balls against South Africa in 2025. He now features twice in the top two for most runs conceded in a T20I powerplay.

Despite the record, Arshdeep remains India’s leading left-arm pacer in T20Is. He has taken more than 50 wickets in the format for India. His overall T20I economy remains under eight runs per over. India has now won over 65 per cent of their home T20I matches. They have played home T20Is across more than 20 venues nationwide.

The landmark reflects India’s dominance in the shortest format. Harshit Rana’s maiden over ensured the historic match had a lasting highlight.
