Daryl Mitchell added momentum with a quick 39 off 18 balls. Late hitting pushed New Zealand to a strong total of 215 for seven. India’s bowlers struggled to control the scoring rate. Mitchell Santner remained effective despite the batting onslaught. India’s chase began on a shaky note. Early wickets dented the required run rate.
Shivam Dube’s power hitting
Shivam Dube launched a stunning counterattack in the middle overs. He smashed 65 runs from just 23 balls. Dube struck multiple sixes with a strike rate above 280. However, support from the other batters was missing. Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh showed promise but failed to convert starts. India were bowled out for 165 in 18.4 overs. Mitchell Santner starred with the ball for New Zealand. He finished with impressive figures of three wickets for 26 runs. Other bowlers applied pressure with disciplined lines.
