The Indian Premier League (IPL)’s brand value soared 80% to $15.4 billion in 2023, according to the NYSE-listed Houlihan Lokey.
A significant increase from the $8.5 billion appraisal from the previous year. The IPL’s standalone brand worth also increased, rising from $1.8 billion in 2022 to $3.2 billion this year, a 22% increase.
The media rights agreement that IPL, Disney Star, and Viacom 18 signed last year for the years 2023–2027 is largely responsible for the enormous expansion of IPL. The media behemoths spent a combined total of 48,390 crores after a fierce bidding war.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) No 1 in Brand Ranking
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who won the IPL in 2023, has a brand worth of $212 million, increasing by 45.2% per year. Last year CSK’s brand value was $146 million.
Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals recorded the biggest incremental brand value increase in percentage terms year over year, with a 103% increase, while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) came in second place with a $195 million brand value.
Even though Mumbai Indians (MI), one of the most well-known IPL teams, was well-liked, they did not make the list of the top two teams. Its brand value increased by around 34.8% from $141 million the year before to $190 million. Due to their success this year on the pitch, the Rajasthan Royals saw the largest increase in revenue, rising 103% to $120 million from $59 million.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ranked 4th in this report’s brand value chart with a valuation of $181 million. Delhi Capitals (DC) ranked 5th ( $133 million).
