World Cup 2023: Can India Win The Title Under The Captaincy Of Rohit Sharma? The World Cup is returning to India after a 12-year absence, and with it, the dream of every Indian is to win the World Cup title for the third time. The first was in 1983, captained by Kapil Dev, and the second was in 2011, captained by GOAT MS Dhoni.
The ODI World Cup 2023 will be held in India beginning on October 5th, with the final on November 19th. A total of 48 matches will be played around the country in ten different venues. This year’s World Cup will be played in a round-robin style, with all 10 countries playing each other at least once before moving on to knockouts.
After the ICC Champions trophy in 2013, India has not won an ICC title. It is firmly documented that no other captain could lead India to a World Cup victory after MS Dhoni, and India has lost both the 2015 and 2019 World Cups under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Despite performing admirably throughout the event, the squad was eliminated in the semi-finals.
This time Rohit Sharma will lead the team India, so let’s talk about whether India can win the World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

Can India Win The World Cup 2023 Under The Captaincy Of Rohit Sharma?
When Virat Kohli stepped down as T20I captain after the T20 WC 2021 and was later fired as ODI captain after big heartbreaks in ICC events. Rohit Sharma takes over as regular T20I and ODI captain in 2022, having previously Captained India on a few occasions. It looked like a leadership change would benefit the side in white-ball cricket.
When he took over, though, a lot was expected of the veteran opener, who had already proven his worth as a white-ball leader in the Indian Premier League and as India’s stand-in skipper, winning an Asia Cup and a tri-series in Sri Lanka in 2018.
However, based on the records and statistics, it is clear that India did win matches and series in home tournaments. Rohit Sharma is a fantastic white ball cricketer who is eagerly anticipated by Indian fans for the captaincy.
Although Rohit does not have extensive captaincy numbers because he has only been a regular captain for a year, his abroad records are not as excellent as other players. However, we do not need to strive for a foreign record because the World Cup is being held in India. And Sharma has already won 5 out of 8 ODI series, whitewashing 3 of them.

Rohit Sharma as Team Player
It is also believed that the captain is only as good as the squad and that the captain cannot win the tournament alone, thus let us discusses Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy as a team player.
Even though all of the team’s players have stated in several interviews that Sharma’s reckless and aggressive behaviour occurs exclusively during the game and alters due to difficult situations. They also stated that Rohit is one of the greatest individuals and a fantastic team leader.
Sharma was previously referred to as “a bowler’s captain” by Karthik. He constantly believes in them and expects them to give their all. Even when he is unhappy by a missed opportunity or a terrible ball, he does not dwell on it and promptly moves on to the next ball, pushing it all aside.
He is also someone who supports players by giving them a long run, which has assisted the Mumbai Indians’ success. All of these attributes can help India win the World Cup again.
