WTC 2025: Pakistani Pacers Have The Worst Average In Tests Since 2022: Pakistani pacers’ performances in Test cricket have been causing increasing worry since 2022. This has been apparent in their recently concluded series with Bangladesh, where they lost 2-0 at home.

With only pacers on its squad, Pakistan lost the first test and is about to lose the 2nd test, if they cannot take wickets. These recent downfalls signify the greater challenge faced by the team’s fast bowlers unit, which has overall fared very poorly in this longer format for two years running.

Within this timeframe, there were 116 wickets claimed by Pakistani fast bowlers playing 17 games at an average of 38.78, which happens to be the lowest stat among prominent cricketing nations across the globe today. On the other hand, South Africa and England have performed brilliantly, with their fast bowlers having averages of 25.76 and 26.31, respectively. Given conventional Pakistan standards, pacing effectiveness has suffered a huge drop.

The troubles were particularly prominent during the home series against England in late 2022, where Pakistan’s pace bowlers took only 11 wickets in three matches, leading to a defeat by all means. Additionally, injuries to important bowlers such as Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah worsen matters. This situation has left the team relying on amateurish elements who are not doing well.

In 2022, Pakistan’s fast-men had an average of 45.9, which is the worst average throughout the country. This was a time when the team that had always boasted about having some of the best quicks was at its lowest.
