PSG History

Paris Saint-Germain FC is one of the most successful FC in French Football history. It has won more than 30 championships. The club was founded by merging Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain in 1970. 

Paris Saint Germain had gained worldwide popularity by winning numerous titles and championships but it did not happen overnight. Till now they have the distinction of winning numerous titles which include League 1, French Cup, French Leagues Cup, Champions trophy, and UEFA Cup winners cup.

It is a new Football Club compared to other clubs but has quickly gained popularity and success in the meantime. Among some of the most famous rivalries to be counted is PSG’s rivalry with Marseille, often referred to as “Le Classique”. It is one of the most anticipated and passionate rivalries in French Football history.

They did not win a lot of games until the 1980s when the club went on to win back-to-back French Cups in 1982 and 1983. They claimed their first League 1 title in 1986. And since then, they are playing hard to make it through the European competitions. The club now enjoys modest league performances.

Paris Saint-Germain have played a lot of memorable matches but have not been able to achieve a feat after qualifying for the quarter-finals. It was during the late 1980s when they developed a keen interest in attacking-minded football, which later contributed to making this club among the favorites in both France and abroad. It has a huge fanbase now.

PSG has one of the most talented players on its list like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar. Neymar was brought to the club in 2017 from Barcelona and so did Messi in 2021 came to the club in 2021 from Barcelona. The logo of the club features the Eiffel Tower and a cradle that represents the birthplace of the French King Louis XIV.

CalcioMercato (via Fichajes) reports that Inter Milan is planning a shock move for PSG superstar Lionel Messi in the next transfer window. Messi’s contract with PSG expires in the summer, and everything indicates that he will leave for free. The report states that Inter Milan aims to make a statement by signing him on a Bosman transfer and will have to compete with Barcelona for his services.
